Press House hosts psychological prep workshop for female journalists
Gaza - Press House
The psychological support team at Press House - Palestine, in cooperation with the Filastiniyat organization, held a specialized psychological preparation workshop on Sunday, September 27, 2026, targeting 15 female journalists preparing to deliver their testimonies on traumatic experiences and events.
Workshop facilitator and psychologist Saja al-Husseini explained that the session aimed to provide a safe space enhancing participants' ability to maintain control and set personal boundaries while recounting their testimonies, emphasizing the core principle that "the testimony belongs to its owner."
The workshop focused on equipping the journalists with emotional regulation skills and calm breathing techniques, as well as identifying signs of psychological stress and grounding mechanisms to return to the present without delving into traumatic details or reliving the experience.
Pre- and post-assessment results showed a marked improvement in the journalists' psychological readiness by 11.87%, alongside an overall workshop satisfaction rate of 83.33%.
The workshop concluded with several recommendations, foremost among them the need to continue psychological preparation sessions for female journalists, especially field reporters, as well as providing follow-up and individualized psychological support when needed.
